This collection of over sixty encounters in 200-plus pages, drawn from my 24 years as Craig Hospital’s chaplain, is my tribute to a subculture I salute as “a gritty bunch who, beyond surviving, drive on toward thriving again.”
I want to introduce a wider circle of seekers
- to a few of the thousands of friends I met at Craig,
- to some slight awareness of the impact of their injuries,
- to Craig itself, the remarkable place which assists them,
- to the spirit with which they rally from unthinkable adversity,
- to the ways in which their effort changes them, often stretching their souls,
- and to the many ways in which, despite all, they remain stubbornly, triumphantly themselves.
